  • Pink floral print shirt- Blue Notes Outlet ($5.00)
  • Mahogany colored jeans- Urban Planet ($25.00)
  • Robin print scarf- Ardene (Gift)
  • Light brown cropped jacket- Jacob ($20.00?)
  • Brown jacket- Urban Planet ($15.00)

Fall is all about layers! This is one of my new favourite fall outfits because of the colors and the layering! Have a look at each layer (one full outfit became wearable to look different by simply removing and adding a layer or two!):

The most basic outfit: a top and bottom. Working with some autumn colours, I decided to be bold and try a tone-on-tone outfit!

Sometime’s a scarf is really the best way to make an outfit stand out as an accent piece! Not only does it match, it’s extra warmth!

OR we can switch the scarf for a cropped lightweight jacket that literally feels like nothing! It adds a more neutral tone to the outfit.

And the final outfit because chill weather means we need to stay warm! Threw on my jacket and I’m out the door!

Ah the art of tucking in tops; making every outfit a bit more prettier. The only reason I wore the belt is because sadly my pants just don’t fit me properly.

I’m in love with prints, wine red and browns for autumn! Bring on the fall!~

CONFESSION: For a really long time, I’ve always wished I could buy a knitted top, maybe off-white or maroon from H&M, and pair it with a gold sequined skirt from Forever21. I don’t know why, but I STILL want to wear it. Problem? WHERE would I wear that to?

I still need to stock up on my sweaters & LOVING H&M’s line for fall fashion 2012!

The Peter Pan collar trend is absolutely ADORABLE!

In LOVE with this skirt, but also THIS OUTFIT! So basic, yet well put together!

I was walking past the store Aeropostale and saw a HUGE poster of Chloe Moretz in front! I stopped and stared. Next thing I know, I was at home googling this up, and giving this girl a thumbs up! ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXsZH0EFKBk&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LLaEaViJt_-j09nLYEBYFiUQ )

The 15-year-old actress has just been named Aéropostale’s celebrity brand ambassador! What does this mean? That Moretz will star in a campaign for the brand, beginning with the 2012 back-to-school season.

Personally, Chloe is just this super adorable and young girl that knows how to have fun with fashion and she just makes anything work because of her outgoing personality. I really found this out through seeing her on the cover of Seventeen magazine and looking at her behind-the-scenes footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ42fYJqlv4

Chloe is what I would define as feminine, fun and chic. She knows how to stay comfy, but still have fun with what she wears.  Below are her promo photo’s with the captions labelled underneath. Check out the site: http://www.aeropostale.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=3534619

Breaking hearts-cool as can be in jeans & our moto jacket.

Leaps & Bounds- layers of texture topped with a bold hat.

Laid Back- casual as ever in our jeggings & tee layered with our fleece vest.

All Class- never missing a beat in animal denim print.

Colour Me This- lace leggings rock a classic mohair sweater.

The New Bohemian- our long patterned skirt & cardigan; mix it up boho chic.

What do you think of her? The bohemian and breaking hearts looks are my two personal favourites. I think for such a young girl, she can make it work representing this store~

If there’s one thing about me, it’s that when I pick up an interest, I tend to fully indulge in it!

As you can tell, that would currently be fashion~

I just picked up these books from Chapters, and I am EXCITED!

  • What I Wore” by Jessica Quirk (CAN $20.00)
  • Style Yourself” Foreword by Jane Aldridge (CAN $26.95)
  • Peach-Gold ring- Forever21 ($4.80)
  • Black-gold earrings- Forever 21 ($5.80)

Another reason why I bought these hefty books is because I had been feeling a bit disconnected with reading lately. I have a lot of books that I’ve been telling myself I need to get on reading, but I never seem to do it, which  is sad because I’m quite the bookworm at heart!

Picking up these books, being in the bookstore getting lost amongst on purpose, really reignited that spark I had been looking for!

These books are simply BEAUTIFUL inside, which I saw as a plus because I was instantly inspired by a ton of the photographs! I figured I could pick up some self-teaching fashion studying while also have a book full of photography inspiration right at my hands!

Never be afraid to take up an interest, simply to learn a bit about it for the heck of it! There’s nothing wrong with gaining a bit of fun knowledge!

What’s your current interest?

Just .. Do It Yourself~

If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s making use of anything in more than one way. This maxi skirt from Cleo is my favourite skirt to wear because it’s simple and elegant.

I was literally just playing around with feeling the fabric  and spinning, when I noticed something. By raising the skirt up and pulling it around the waistline, it looked just like a simple knee-length skirt. However, the best part was the back of it! By bringing it towards the back of the skirt, it created a really cool middle flowing tail! I know, that sounds really weird, but how many skirts have that? In my opinion, it looked kinda cool~

Fashion is all about statements. It’s about doing what other people aren’t, or just starting your own trends. The point is to be creative, inspired and playful because there’s no boundaries!

If there’s one store I LOVE but am really intimidated by prices, it would be Forever21. I mean have you seen their clothes & prices?! Ugh, so pretty, but not exactly my sort of pricing (personally speaking at least. The guilt eats me at night!), you know?

However, my aunt came to my rescue this past weekend! She actually bought me clothes from there! I was in total shock that she actually did that. The things she purchased was such a nice variety of texture and quirky-ness, I was smiling far too much!

  • Grey open cropped casual jacket/flyaway- $18.50
This top doesn’t button up, but the back is shorter than the front. The material is so silky and smooth, you never want to take it off. The sleeve’s have a nice cuff style, about 3/4 sleeves. Because the front of the jacket is long, you can also tie it together.

  • Blue lace open fashion jacket/flyaway- $20.50
Lace is extremely popular, and if you’ve been to a Forever21 store recently since the spring line came out, then you know exactly what I mean! When you look at this top, it has a very big box-like cut to it and intricate little details. It’s a cropped sleeve, and the fabric is very breathable, but can feel a bit funny against your skin after a long while. This is a piece I’m definitely willing to give a try!

  • Long chain necklace- $10.80

There was a white layered lace cami that sadly didn’t fit me (I’m a size XS, not a S). I couldn’t find it anywhere & didn’t want to go downtown Toronto for one top. Not worth it. So I figured, “why not exchange it?”

Here’s what the white cami looked like: http://canada.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?br=F21&Category=top&ProductID=2000040918

I was a very excited little shopper because I knew I had PLENTY of time to thoroughly search for a nice article of clothing and to try on sizes with no rush.

  • High-low dress- $18.50

  • Cross ring- $1.50
  • 3 set earrings- $3.80

3 things for the total of $23.80 instead of just one lace cami for $23.80? Well if THAT isn’t good shopping, then I don’t know what is! =)

My rule is if you’re spending money, or exchanging, make it worth it’s money. Buy things that you would WANT to wear, not clothes your hesitant about. Make sure you like what you buy. I’ve seen too many people buy clothes that they didn’t really love, and realize they couldn’t return it (always check store policies!) and it just sits there in the back of the closet!

What do you think about when you’re shopping? =)

I DO NOT OWN THESE PHOTOS. © COPYRIGHT TO WENDYSLOOKBOOK.

When you’re passionate about something, there is always a source for that passion. I’m not “passionate” about fashion like I am photography, but I would say I’m inspired and finding a lot of potential with it. A BIG reason I started taking it a bit more serious and prioritizing it in my life a bit more is because of Wendy Nguyen.

http://www.wendyslookbook.com/

Her fashion diary is simply STELLULAR. What I love about her is that, not only does she take risks with her fashion and her taste in clothes, but what she wear’s is affordable and doable. These are very essential to me when I look at fashion now.

I don’t want to have to waste how many paycheques simply to buy one super expensive name brand item to make a super chic outfit that’s so “out-there” that I would never have the confidence to even BOTHER to wear it. You know what I mean? Wendy is realistically stylish. All of her outfits I could see myself possibly wearing, one way or another.

The photographs taken of her are an absolute BEAUT! I’m always inspired by these photo’s to get better at my own photography! I love love love the quality and the genuineness of them!

I found Wendyslookbook through her video “25 Ways to Wear a Scarf in 4.5 Minutes!” (It’s the coolest and cutest video EVER!) Her videos are thoroughly well done, well executed and all creatively unique. I highly recommend simply checking out her site or videos.

I learned a lot from her, not simply about just fashion, but how she truly conveys herself through her appearance. It’s easy to not care about how we look, but at the same time, making an effort to look good and feel good is a fantastic feeling! You can have so much variety with how you dress because styles are endless.

I learned to try new things and not to be afraid to embrace my body in terms of dressing it. I’ve always been very conscious about the fact that I’m tall and skinny. Most people always tell me they wish they had my body, but I always said they shouldn’t say that. I wasn’t always comfortable in my skin, but I’ve really changed. I have a lot of fun creating outfits (layering is my favourite) and finding new looks that suit me (currently obsessed with maxi’s and skirts).

What’s your current muse/inspiration? =)

xoxo Dana
