We FINALLY have some sunshine coming back to us, and all I can think is, “MAXI SKIRTS AND MAXI DRESSES!”

All I’ve been thinking about is a few essential maxi skirts and dresses I can wear this summer! My reasons?

  1. Maxi = better than pants!
  2. It’s less of a hassle and worry if it’s already full length vs. a medium-length skirt
  3. Maxi is a total new level of comfort that still lets you look put together
  4. It has a very feminine look while still being comfy
  5. A maxi dress is a piece that can be utilized in a million ways to make it look like a skirt, top or one piece

What are your thoughts on maxi pieces? (Short or tall, it’s worth a try!)

How gorgeous is black and sheer together?

There’s something both classic and timeless about the look of this combination because it can look dressed up or dressed down.

So far, I’ve got a brown maxi skirt (super comfy from sirens for ONLY $10!), a navy blue maxi dress (a more safe colour) with straps and a mint green (I figured colour would be good to try for the summer) from Forever 21.

I’m absolutely in LOVE with the kpop song “I Don’t Need A Man” by Miss A! The looks are as fabulous as the song itself!

I was really inspired by some of their outfits and wanted to share it with you guys!

The music group, Miss A.

It’s the simplest things that can make any outfit work.

  • Oversized red & black plaid shirt with a black top and shorts (my personal fav)
  • The boyfriend blazer with chunky gold statement jewelry
  • Black suspenders with a crisp white top for that slight boyish-look

The video really gives the girls a great look for each singer that shows off their independence and attitude to look out for themselves, which I found quite cool and inspiring. Any look is better with a great hairstyle and an attitude to go with it!

Be prepared: this is a bit of a photo rant!

Something that I found was really amazing was when I was at my MYT 5 year anniversary. I felt like I learned a couple things about my camera, myself, and photographers. Of course, I could be wrong because I can only go off on what I saw from my point of view from the professional photographers that were hired for the event.

Before the event had started, I’m an early bird kind of person. I like arriving to hang out with my volunteer family, and they all know that I love to take photos. So, I had some of the guys stolen by yours truly because I don’t always photograph guys and it was just TOO GOOD of an opportunity to pass up.

I definitely had to use my communication skills to get what I wanted, and anyone who knows me knows I’m not crazy about telling people how to pose. This was a step up for me. Some of the guys didn’t know me too well because they had just met me quite recently and some of them are more relaxed in front of my camera then others. This was definitely a great experience for me.

I unconsciously used techniques and tips that I had picked up from watching the YouTube channel The FramedShow. Things like visually showing my models what I was looking for, constantly talking to them to make them feel more comfortable, and levelling with them. I found this worked extremely well. After a few attempts, I had some interesting shots.

Later on, one of the guys, who was one of my models and also didn’t know me very well, said something surprising to me after the professional photographer took his tables group photo. It was basically along the lines that he felt like I was a more real photographer and I was more passionate because I actually talked to everyone to tell them how to pose and allowed them to really make the picture happen. I was actually quite shocked hearing that, and at the same time I felt blessed.

Ps. I’m not trying to boost my ego or anything because I KNOW I could have taken better photos and that I’m still in a learning process. I just wanted to share this experience.

It’s funny how you can learn a lot from other bloggers, and I felt REALLY blessed to learn from this blogger!

http://90daycloset.wordpress.com/

She did a fashion challenge (NO SHOPPING FOR 3 MONTHS), and she picked up a lot of tips from not shopping for a while.

  • Shopping impulses can occur, but it’s funny that if you wait it out and look back later on, you actually will notice that you won’t want that specific item anymore.
  • There’s the 90% chance that the desire will pass, and this is true!
  • Quality over quantity

Finding this blog was truly epic. I learned a lot from her!

And of course I had to follow her new blog once her challenge was done: http://closetstrategy.wordpress.com/

I’ve been doing my research on the upcoming fall fashion and creating my wishlist and my basic essentials list of the few transition pieces to look for this fall. Yes, I still shop from time-to-time, but I think I have more fun window shopping and researching.

For anyone who loves shopping, it takes a LOT of effort NOT to shop for a certain time period.

This post by Wendy from WendysLookbook is not only beautiful, but also inspiring, just as every one of her blog posts are! The reason that this one particularly stood out to me was because of why the location of these photos were taken at, and how they were taken.

Last night, Mystery Man and I went on a date and spotted a fountain on our way home.  With pure excitement, we parked the car and rushed towards the fountain.  MM with his quick hands managed to snap a few pictures while skirting by the water with me.  We felt like little kids enjoying a carefree moment!

After reading this, it made me stop and think.

THIS is why I take photos.

THIS is how I act.

THIS is something that I feel I can heavily relate to.

A while back, I had attended my volunteer teams 5 year anniversary, and whenever I saw someone and the perfect background or saw a moment, I literally either rushed to the scene to capture it or I was squealing and dragging the person to make that photo happen. I have to say, I was EXREMELY happy with myself that night. It also happens to me on a daily basis when shooting, at any day or time, and the feeling of seeing that single photograph come together just makes me speechless everytime. Here’s some of those photo’s that describes what I just wrote about:

One of my favourite photo’s taken that night! The colours were just so perfect, I couldn’t help but squeal after taking this shot.

My team is too comfortable in front of my camera and I abused that to no end that night.

What’s an anniversary without those super tight killer hugs and the screaming of “OMG I HAVEN’T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER!

Captured moments that others won’t notice until they see the pictures later on. Those are the ones you’ll look back on and always smile at.

11. Your spring essential

The high-low skirts~

This trend and this article of clothing is just simply perfect for the spring weather because it’s suitable for the weather, and doesn’t show off too much skin either. How can you not love the styles that this trend is bringing? Whether it’s the low-high, the asymmetrical, the waterfall, or the full-length sheer skirts (they got these skirts falling down in all sorts of ways and directions, it’s nuts!) ect, this trend has versatility and comfort to it!

Plus, just having one of these skirts gives you the options to play around and recreate the other styles that are out there!

To the photobugs and everyone who owns a camera and/or loves to take/look at photos!

Have you ever found that one spot, that perfect place that you KNOW would be a place for a FANTASTIC shoot? You are visualizing the shots, the placements, the lighting, the models and EVERYTHING. But then, you either have to leave because you’re at a family outing or to come back is out of your reach distance-wise …

Don’t you think this is such a perfect, romantic spot for a couple shoot?

Oh, the gears in my brains cranked into overtime when I saw this~

I was SO happy taking this shot! Has a bit of a Disney feel to it. I’m no crazy love-struck girl, but this made me fall in love all over again~

I love gardens, they are just the epitome of beauty!

Just .. Do It Yourself~

If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s making use of anything in more than one way. This maxi skirt from Cleo is my favourite skirt to wear because it’s simple and elegant.

I was literally just playing around with feeling the fabric  and spinning, when I noticed something. By raising the skirt up and pulling it around the waistline, it looked just like a simple knee-length skirt. However, the best part was the back of it! By bringing it towards the back of the skirt, it created a really cool middle flowing tail! I know, that sounds really weird, but how many skirts have that? In my opinion, it looked kinda cool~

Fashion is all about statements. It’s about doing what other people aren’t, or just starting your own trends. The point is to be creative, inspired and playful because there’s no boundaries!
