Archives for posts with tag: creative

Old Navy launched a special section a while back where some of the clothing was marked with tags that said “Studio Spotlight”. This meant that those pieces were from the line of clothes that the designers created! Below is what the tag looks like:

This piece that I purchased was the Old Navy Women’s one-button blazer. Here’s a link to what the whole blazer looks like:

The creator for this line including the blazer is Shanti Markstrom.

I love buying something that has more meaning than just being some article of clothing! The Studio Spotlight tag could be opened and had a paper in it with information about the creation of the blazer! It was the most adorable thing I had ever seen!

Also, I thought I would include the video about Shanti’s line that she created for you guys, it’s really cool:

Bring on the ghouls, monsters, witches anddddd pumpkins!

Actually, I could do without the scary since I’m a HUGE scaredy cat! However, in the spirit of Halloween  me and some friends got together to do some pumpkin carving!

Meet the crew!

Don’t be deceived!

It was POURING rain when we were picking out our pumpkins, GAH!

I also put together a fun quick 3 minute video of our pumpkin carving if you would like to have a look!

Meet Frankenchu; the zombie version of Pikachu!

I’m not a fan of Halloween, but I DO enjoy movies like Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and fun Halloween songs such as: Terror Time Again, The Hex Girls, (<– From Scooby Doo movies) and This is Halloween~

Once you start, you cant stop. I’ve never done any crazy complicated DIYs before, I’ve mainly done quick little things that you could think of off the bat of your head. Actually, I don’t know if they can even be CONSIDERED as a DIY because it is either so basic or I just saw it as an easy alternative of how to fix something (most just clothes).

Before, I would NEVER even THINK twice about a pair of scissors in my hands going near ANY of my clothes. However, once you do it that ONE time JUSTTTTTTT to snip away some annoying threads or so, you begin to think.

Hey … I COULD cut off the sleeve since its bothering me so much. It will look like all those other shirts people are wearing now. That would be SO COOL! Ah, its JUST a sleeve, whats it gunna kill me… I’m sure I could just— oh, maybe if I justttttt do this — ohmygosh I HAVE to find that tutorial again on how to do this! Maybe if I look on YouTube and Pinterest … huh, I should do this more often!

Never be afraid to try.

You never know!

Things that are simple can be really fun. It makes you think a bit more creatively. It makes something completely your own. It can also inspire others. So, WHY NOT?

Just .. Do It Yourself~

If there’s one thing I love doing, it’s making use of anything in more than one way. This maxi skirt from Cleo is my favourite skirt to wear because it’s simple and elegant.

I was literally just playing around with feeling the fabric  and spinning, when I noticed something. By raising the skirt up and pulling it around the waistline, it looked just like a simple knee-length skirt. However, the best part was the back of it! By bringing it towards the back of the skirt, it created a really cool middle flowing tail! I know, that sounds really weird, but how many skirts have that? In my opinion, it looked kinda cool~

Fashion is all about statements. It’s about doing what other people aren’t, or just starting your own trends. The point is to be creative, inspired and playful because there’s no boundaries!
