http://fictionalmachines.com/ thank you. It is because of you and your nomination for my very FIRST BLOG AWARD that you are making me make a post on the LAST DAY of 2012. There are no words to describe how happy I’m feeling!

THANK YOU!

I’ve found blogging to be considerably hard. Hard to keep up with. Hard to make the time for it. But it’s still always worth it.

And I cannot thank you enough.

May the new year of 2013 be nothing short of amazing to you!

If you haven’t been to fictional machine’s blog, PLEASE check it out! There’s a reason I follow that blog and I hope you can find a reason as well! =)

Onto the rules of the award~

The Rules:

1] Link back to the person who nominated you

2] Post the award image on your page

3] Tell seven random facts about yourself

4] Nominate fifteen other blogs

Random Facts

1. I’m currently on the hunt for my soul mate Polaroid or to actually buy the Instagram instant camera. It’s love I tell you.

2. I plan on taking roadtrips with whoever is down to do it. I love travelling. It’s a need in my life.

3. I’m not interested in a famous gloat-worthy job. I just want a steady job so that I can feel secure.

4. I’m always questioning myself as to why I take photos, and I find that the reason changes a bit more everytime I ask myself that.

5. I used to write a lot. I didn’t realize that everything I wrote about applied to myself in some ways and I hid it from the world because of that.

6. This year made me take chances and try new things. Now I plan to make 2013 ten times better. Who’s with me?

7. I can’t picture myself in a relationship with someone at all.

This is exactly what I have been experiencing!

Photofocus (old site)

For most of us, we got into photography because it was fun.  Sure the prospect of making a living off something we enjoyed was exciting; it was a dream job. But then reality set in… what was once fun increasingly became work.

I liken the entire dynamic to that of a marriage.  I started dating my wife almost 15 years ago. What started as young romance, turned into newlywed bliss.  Add in two jobs, two kids, and other pressures and its easy to find yourself sleeping next to a stranger.

What we figured out a few years back is that we were better parents the more we were in love with each other.  Hence our standing tradition of having our own date night at least every two weeks.  We step away from all the parts of the relationship that are work and instead work on our relationship. We’re happy, we’re…

Old Navy launched a special section a while back where some of the clothing was marked with tags that said “Studio Spotlight”. This meant that those pieces were from the line of clothes that the designers created! Below is what the tag looks like:

This piece that I purchased was the Old Navy Women’s one-button blazer. Here’s a link to what the whole blazer looks like:

The creator for this line including the blazer is Shanti Markstrom.

I love buying something that has more meaning than just being some article of clothing! The Studio Spotlight tag could be opened and had a paper in it with information about the creation of the blazer! It was the most adorable thing I had ever seen!

Also, I thought I would include the video about Shanti’s line that she created for you guys, it’s really cool:

I took some pictures of what the paper looked like, HAVE A LOOK!CSC_0965

I’m definitely hoping to stumble across some more Studio Spotlight pieces more often!~

In honor of Gossip Girl having aired it’s season finale, why not a post with their help as my muse?

The Cast of GG on the cover of the New York Magazine, April 2008, named as “The Best Show Ever!”

Now I haven’t watched every season, but all the buzz that goes on about it is enough to learn what the deal of it is, from the drama to the fashion. I still had enough common sense to set aside some time to sit down and watch the last episode for the hell of it.

Sometime’s it takes a show of a lifetime to see changes take place in a character, in terms of their personality, fashion and relationships with friends and family.

From the snobby uniforms in their high school years to scandalous dressy ways of the Upper East side style, it’s easy to see who’s changed in what ways. It made me think about my own transitions with my group of friends and in terms of myself.

Sometime’s appearance really is more important than we think it is. Sometime’s its not. What do you think?

I could be over-analyzing and using a really weird example for something like this, however, sometime’s it’s the hype of the media that makes us just stop and have a moment of self-realization~

Ps. I always did love seeing the way people like The Queen B dressed! It wasn’t something I could have happen in real life, but damn it was always worth watching~

So, as Gossip Girl said in the episode of “Return of the Ring“, “Good morning, Upper East Siders. How do you look today? You know image is everything. But under those perfect clothes and perfect smiles, everyone has their not-so-perfect secrets.”

If your eyes are a camera, then you can truly find beauty in ANYTHING that you do … including CLEANING.

I was cleaning the glasses for the holidays and of course I got sidetracked by how pretty they were.
Before I knew it, I was grabbing my camera and taking pictures of the glasses instead!

What does “affordable clothes” mean to you?

I read this quote on my Instagram by someone and agreed WHOLE HEARTEDLY!

ba0dc6963f3a11e2957722000a1f9a39_7

Is this not true? Not everyone in the world can afford what they would like to have. We have budgets, some of us are students, some are just tight on finances and some of us need to learn to stop shopping all name brand all the time.

I just thought of this as today’s realization, putting-it-out-there-inspiration of the fashion world today! Afterall, we all start somewhere no?

To me, a good deal feels good when I’m not second-guessing my purchases at the counter and staring at my credit card thinking, “is this worth it?”

If there’s one thing I love about Pretty Little Liars, it’s their amazing fashion!

This has to be the most relevant quote since I started watching the series!

I love that each of the girls have their own unique style that really reflects their character quite well. If you didn’t know anything about the show or their characters, you could actually get an idea just from their appearances.

Mandi Line truly is an amazing costume designer! Here’s a video that talks about how she creates each of the girls look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9lgy6GhI0Q Spencer surprised me the most, it was adorable~

Aria is a very vintage like girl! She’s what I would call the thrifter! Her outfits are not things you can just find in a store mannequin, you have to personalize it and truly make it your own!

Hanna truly signifies what an “it” girl is; the one with all the up-to-date fashion that is currently trending! I absolutely love her outfits, and it’s how I would dream of dressing, but I feel like it’s a hard look to maintain. She looks so out-there and ready to go out anytime anyday! Ever her slump days look great!hannah_0

Emily is the character who’s fashion definitely changed over the seasons. While the other girls didn’t change as much, Emily (from my perspective) acquired a more tough badass feel to her looks. I think her signature piece is her leather jacket, it really makes her look edgy. I don’t normally love her outfits as much, but I feel that now she’s gone through so many situations because of A, her look says, “I’m not afraid of you. Bring it.” Funny enough, off-screen from her jock character, Shay Mitchell is actually my favourite person in real life! I mean, HAVE YOU SEEN HER? she’s gorgeous! I only wish she could look like that when she’s playing Emily as well!emily-fields-tea-cup

Spencer has the most sophisticated wardrobe out of all the girls! She’s one of my top two favourites! I always think of an honour roll student/Tommy Hilfiger/American Eagle kinda look to her, which I personally love. This jacket below is one of my favourite pieces that she’s worn. I have a denim jacket similar to this, but the army green really makes it look tough and edgy, which is a nice contrast to her normal look. 0 (1)
