18. Your brightest lipstick

I don’t wear lipstick, so I am substituting for lip-gloss. I don’t think of lip-gloss as a little girl type of product, because I like to wear it if I really feel like “dressing up” or “going all out“. But, that does NOT mean I throw on the brightest, most glossiest and bold shade of LIFE. It’ll just be a super light glaze look because I’m terrified of lip colours, I haven’t found one I really find suitable for me, except for a dark dark red lip-gloss from ESTĒE LAUDER that my mom gave me. (which I’ve been using for the last almost year and a half)

(On the right) Brightest shade: 07 Flashdance

(In the middle) 03 Berry Lush (so far my favourite)

(On the left) 06 Coral Chic

This is a very new and recent set of ESTĒE LAUDERs lip-glosses, my mom got it not even a week ago when purchasing her other makeup products. It comes as a set, just as the above picture shows, and it comes with a square purple and black animal skin-print compact mirror. The lip-glosses are called: Pure gloss, High gloss, Ultra brilliance.

Surprisingly, these lip-glosses work really well; they stay on your lips for a long time, unlike other glosses that would come off very easily. There isn’t a very heavy shine, so its subtle on the lips, but its the pop of colour that makes it look so amazing.

BTW, this was a gift set, so I don’t know the actual Canadian pricing, SORRY!

This is the 07 Flashdance in the photo above.

I don’t ever do reviews on products, but it is new and I don’t like to just say a product without giving the proper information about it. ESTEE LAUDER is a really great brand to buy from. My moms been buying from them for years, and I have tried some of the products here and there, it really does its job well.

I’ve personally never come across a bad product from them, and if you ever purchase from the Bramelea City Centre ESTĒE LAUDER in the makeup section at The Bay, they give amazing customer service to everyone, and a lot of tips about what products will work best for you.

Be prepared: this is a bit of a photo rant!

Something that I found was really amazing was when I was at my MYT 5 year anniversary. I felt like I learned a couple things about my camera, myself, and photographers. Of course, I could be wrong because I can only go off on what I saw from my point of view from the professional photographers that were hired for the event.

Before the event had started, I’m an early bird kind of person. I like arriving to hang out with my volunteer family, and they all know that I love to take photos. So, I had some of the guys stolen by yours truly because I don’t always photograph guys and it was just TOO GOOD of an opportunity to pass up.

I definitely had to use my communication skills to get what I wanted, and anyone who knows me knows I’m not crazy about telling people how to pose. This was a step up for me. Some of the guys didn’t know me too well because they had just met me quite recently and some of them are more relaxed in front of my camera then others. This was definitely a great experience for me.

I unconsciously used techniques and tips that I had picked up from watching the YouTube channel The FramedShow. Things like visually showing my models what I was looking for, constantly talking to them to make them feel more comfortable, and levelling with them. I found this worked extremely well. After a few attempts, I had some interesting shots.

Later on, one of the guys, who was one of my models and also didn’t know me very well, said something surprising to me after the professional photographer took his tables group photo. It was basically along the lines that he felt like I was a more real photographer and I was more passionate because I actually talked to everyone to tell them how to pose and allowed them to really make the picture happen. I was actually quite shocked hearing that, and at the same time I felt blessed.

Ps. I’m not trying to boost my ego or anything because I KNOW I could have taken better photos and that I’m still in a learning process. I just wanted to share this experience.

17. Something you wear when it’s sunny

Bug eye shades. It’s my “must-have-on-me” accessory for all seasons.

I guess you can say I’m a bit of a vampire because I despise walking around outside in the sun without these shades on. It just drives me CRAZY. I feel like I’m squinting and glaring at everyone and will soon walk into a pole.

I’m not picky about designs, as long as the shades are big and are tinted enough that when you look at my eyes, you can’t see them. It’s kinda funny, I can pretend I’m listening while being asleep, or watching other things around me when no one knows.

I’m no expert about which sunglasses frame faces and whatnot, but of all the styles I’ve tried, bug eyes suit me the best. I love how it looks and frames my face and covers my eyes COMPLETELY.

The bigger and darker they are, the better for me than for you~

  • Black shorts- Urban Planet ($8.00)
  • Striped top- Blue Notes ($10.00)

It’s called “quickie” because I was getting ready super quick before having some friends over, throwing these two pieces together, not bothering with jewelry, except for gold and black earrings. Afterwards, looking at the outfit, it went with my messy right-out-of-the-shower curly hair pretty darn well.

Tip: Tucking in a top into your bottoms can always make any outfit look a bit more put together~

16. A customized item

Some people might recognize this jacket because I did a DIY post on it:

Customizing can be anything from something small to something big, as long as it fits you how you want it to~

Why have the jacket when you can have the grungy vest?

It’s funny how you can learn a lot from other bloggers, and I felt REALLY blessed to learn from this blogger!

http://90daycloset.wordpress.com/

She did a fashion challenge (NO SHOPPING FOR 3 MONTHS), and she picked up a lot of tips from not shopping for a while.

  • Shopping impulses can occur, but it’s funny that if you wait it out and look back later on, you actually will notice that you won’t want that specific item anymore.
  • There’s the 90% chance that the desire will pass, and this is true!
  • Quality over quantity

Finding this blog was truly epic. I learned a lot from her!

And of course I had to follow her new blog once her challenge was done: http://closetstrategy.wordpress.com/

I’ve been doing my research on the upcoming fall fashion and creating my wishlist and my basic essentials list of the few transition pieces to look for this fall. Yes, I still shop from time-to-time, but I think I have more fun window shopping and researching.

For anyone who loves shopping, it takes a LOT of effort NOT to shop for a certain time period.

15. Nail art/your favourite polish and your nail varnish collection

As much as I love colour, I have this obsession for nude colour nails. I tried it one time, and I’m hooked! It goes with everything, never goes out of style, and it just looks more sophisticated without trying (looks even better if you have long nails!).

I don’t spend much time on my nails at all because when I’m working, both my nail polish and my nails ALWAYS get chipped somehow (something that annoys me to NO END)! The only reason I even bother to put on nail polish is because it covers my nails and kinda prevents me from biting my nails because I love having long nails, but I suck at taking care of them.

I don’t have a nail varnish collection, heck this nude colour nail polish is something I just found in my moms makeup bag and tried it out! Me, her and my sister share any nail polishes that we all own, but none really stand out to me that I love besides this one!

This post by Wendy from WendysLookbook is not only beautiful, but also inspiring, just as every one of her blog posts are! The reason that this one particularly stood out to me was because of why the location of these photos were taken at, and how they were taken.

Last night, Mystery Man and I went on a date and spotted a fountain on our way home.  With pure excitement, we parked the car and rushed towards the fountain.  MM with his quick hands managed to snap a few pictures while skirting by the water with me.  We felt like little kids enjoying a carefree moment!

After reading this, it made me stop and think.

THIS is why I take photos.

THIS is how I act.

THIS is something that I feel I can heavily relate to.

A while back, I had attended my volunteer teams 5 year anniversary, and whenever I saw someone and the perfect background or saw a moment, I literally either rushed to the scene to capture it or I was squealing and dragging the person to make that photo happen. I have to say, I was EXREMELY happy with myself that night. It also happens to me on a daily basis when shooting, at any day or time, and the feeling of seeing that single photograph come together just makes me speechless everytime. Here’s some of those photo’s that describes what I just wrote about:

One of my favourite photo’s taken that night! The colours were just so perfect, I couldn’t help but squeal after taking this shot.

My team is too comfortable in front of my camera and I abused that to no end that night.

What’s an anniversary without those super tight killer hugs and the screaming of “OMG I HAVEN’T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER!

Captured moments that others won’t notice until they see the pictures later on. Those are the ones you’ll look back on and always smile at.

14. The item that was hardest to hunt down/buy

My leopard print infinity scarf from Old navy for $12. (It was hard to find “the one“)

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=38340&vid=1&pid=576179&scid=576179002 (Now $14 +tax)

That might sound stupid, but for some reason I was EXTREMELY picky about how I wanted my printed infinity scarf to look (you wouldn’t believe how much I looked online AND in-store, trying them on, debating on prices, ect).

Actually, I was just looking for a regular leopard print scarf because I had been eyeing it (current fashion trend, comfortable, everyone was rocking it while they have it); the infinity part was a plus because I fell in love with it in a heartbeat. (That’s why I was okay buying a scarf for more than $10 for the first time ever)

One day, both me and my co-worker had both worn this scarf to work, I was wearing light colours and she was wearing dark colours. It just was really interesting to see how versatile this scarf was and how it works with every colour palette so effortlessly.
