Have you ever shopped at Cottiny? It is THE epitome of cuteness~

I decided to make a purchase at this jewellery store for my mom’s birthday, which is on Canada’s Day!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take pictures in this small store/boutique, but what I bought was more classic and simple so that my mom can wear it to work. If you like super cute necklaces and earrings, check it out! From animals, to the word love, they have really adorable designs worth looking at among their super cute displays!

This necklace was $35.00, it is real silver. (The pricing is actually pretty good considering how nice their stuff looks and that it’s real silver too) I’m always very conscious of what I spend, but when it comes to my mom, that kinda goes out the window. It’s the last thing I worry about because it’s for her~

This gift box setup was only an additional $2.00. Not bad, because it’s a great necklace holder! I love presenting a gift and making it look good.

I love a cute boutique, it feels so unique. I got their free membership, I mean 5% can make a difference! I’m hoping one day I can buy something for myself from there~

Hopefully my mom likes this gift!

I’m the type of girl that if I don’t write it out in some form, I won’t bother pursuing the goals I have in mind.

Since summer’s started, I’ve noticed a few things about myself, more of it being changes that I need to take initiative on!

  • Replace Coke/Pepsi (with either water, orange juice or ice tea!)
  • Eating proper meals (I don’t eat 3 full meals anymore. Bad me!)
  • Eating healthy (Oh, the hardest one of them all!)

I think of this as a personal post to myself! If I can make a commitment to blog every week, I can do this too … right?

The key is to keep it short, simple, and sweet. Makes it feel like it’s easier to accomplish!

*First off, I’m NOT some crazy One Direction fangirl. Please note that. What I do like, yes, one or two of their songs. But what I admire is their stylists and their style.

Lately, I’ve been quite intrigued with men’s fashion a bit more. I love a guy who can dress well, but 5 at once? Hell, that’s a powerhouse. From rocking varsity jackets, stripes, suspenders and layers, what more can you ask for?

Men can create very chic outfits with very few basic rules. Layering with a colour palette and contrasting colours gives more personality and care to an outfit. What I love seeing is a guy wearing very basic pieces, but pulling it off so well because they are comfy and have confidence with what they’re wearing. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel this way? I’m proud to say the guy friends in my life have great style. Thumbs up to them!

There’s always a sense of harmony with what they’re all wearing when they do photoshoots, but they still maintain something unique about each of them.

Now, I know that sounds stupid because if its a photoshoot, then OF COURSE they have to match and whatnot. But I don’t know, there seems to be something about the way their stylists do it. It feels like it just pulls together effortlessly and they still each look unique, not the same. (and I’ve researched and looked up a LOT of photoshoots. In a group, it’s very easy to make everyone blend in TOO well.)

I love seeing a colour palette among the clothes that is clearly visible. It creates this overall effortless look.

Sandy colours, stripes and beach settings work the best for them, at least in my opinion. It looks the most natural and matches their style the best.

(I could do without the lime green pants … I don’t see that as the greatest combination compared to the rest.) Love seeing guys in blazers though, very crisp.

Rather than fangirl about the boys (hell, I still can’t match their names to their faces), lemme know what you think about their fashion as well as men’s fashion =)

I never get tired of watching Selena Gomez’s music video “Hit the Lights“.

The vintage style, the way its filmed, the setting, the clothes, and the fact that it looks like a video where everyone is truly just having a good time.

The fashion & the vintage feel probably drew me in first when I saw this; its like a mix of the plaids from Blue Notes with the modern styles of American Eagle.

Ironically,  when I got too lazy to make more printscreens (watching a video trying to click pause at the right time is hard, or you end up with weird facial expressions), I tried googling the fashion and found I wasn’t the only blog post writing about this! How bout them apples!

http://thefunkyfashionista.blogspot.ca/2011/11/fashion-inspiration-selena-gomezs-hit.html

Whoever was the clothing designer for this video, did a FANTASTIC job! The splatted paint denim jacket with the sequined yellow top goes perfectly in this setting along with her bubble gum lipstick and loose waves.

Selena was wearing a white knee length lace skirt with this top in case you were wondering. The bangs and even the extensions just fit SO WELL its ridiculous. Hair styles can really pull an outfit together!

What I wouldn’t give to wear an outfit like that! The American style graphic shirt with the brown sleeveless jacket and the black tights works as a great combination! This is my personal favourite~

It was really hard to get a proper printscreen, but Selena is wearing a big silver statement necklace (check out the above blog link to see). The outfit is all about playing with textures; a chunky knitted sweater with either a sequined or feathered skirt really ties in with her necklace and has such cool tones as well.

The cast in the video also had such intricate and laid back styles, it was fun watching not just what they were wearing, but how it worked with their personality and what they were doing from breaking into dance to just having fun. You can see everything from the varsity styled jacket, printed button-up shirts, denim tops, hats to the many to none layers being worn.

I dunno what it is, but sometimes we actually need to be at an all-time low just to learn a bit about ourselves.

On Saturday, I woke up with a reaaaaaaaaaaaally bad case of the Flu (along with a surprise attack of a swollen lip AND cramps! GAH, just kill me!) that I unfortunately picked up from my dad (ironically he got better the day I got sick), and currently I’m STILL sick in bed trying my best to get better asap! Well, I don’t have a choice seeing that I have things to get done and I hate being sick.

It’s been crazy! Not using my phone or my laptop (okay, well except for NOW) because my parents would keep it out of my reach so that I could recover …

But, I actually loved it. (Yeah, even the no music part! Crazy, right?)

It was like a burden was taken off my shoulders. I felt … enlightened. No social networking, not a given damn about the world (except for how long I was going to be stuck in this coughing/sneezing rut!) for the last several days. TRY IT SOMETIME … MINUS THE GETTING SICK PART!

All I was worried about was my health, WHICH I’ve realized just how badly I’ve been taking care of myself! I’ve made a vow to start eating properly, and to try to sleep earlier! I’m also substituting pop for a good ole glass of OJ! (anyone who knows me knows I am a coke/pepsi ADDICT)

We never think about these things because we’re so used to it. We’re used to putting it off, brushing it off like it’s nothing to worry about.

You realize the little things around you BECAUSE you have nothing else to do besides sleep while in bed, so you pick up on the little things like how helpless you are, how much you appreciate whoever is helping you get better (THANK YOU MOM!), and how to just breathe and be in a peaceful environment.

I didn’t realize some friends of mine would be worrying (which is why I’m writing a post, so that they know, AND I’m gunna post a fb status stating that I haven’t died), which I apologize for! I didn’t mean to make you worry!

If you are still reading, WOW I CONGRATULATE YOU! Why? Because I can admit this is a boring post, which most people probably scrolled past, and I’m more than okay with that, as well as it sounds like I’m some preaching monk or something (NO OFFENSE!)I’ll be sure to add an extra post to spice things up a bit!

So I did it! I made my very first purchase by myself, with my own money online! It’s ridiculous how excited I was! I was lucky it came literally within a few days.

Even though my blazer ($18.90) is too big, I should have gotten a small, I’m still really glad that I bought it. Why you may ask. It’s because I made a bold buy. I’ve been trying to find that perfect blazer for a long time! This feels great and I now know that I can buy a bold colour because I love it! (I love the style, fit, material, AND colour)

  • ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP PLAN! IF they can’t return my blazer, I’m willing to see if it can be tailored!
  • YOU ARE ALWAYS AT A RISK. A risk of not trying something on before actually paying for it!
  • MAKE SURE TO KNOW THE RETURN AND EXCHANGE POLICY BEFOREHAND!
  • PICK DAYS TO SHOP ONLINE WHEN THE SHIPPING IS FREE!

If there’s one thing I’ve decided, it’s that I’ll stick more to buying accessories rather than clothes when I shop online in august on yesstyle!

I DO love my earrings! Super long and chic! They actually go past my collarbone! ($7.80)

If there’s one thing I’ve been doing this summer is BEING OCCUPIED.  Doing something, rather than nothing.

I’ve always been one to say, there should always be at LEAST one highlight in your day, every day. Even if it’s THE most simplest thing ever.

I try to do something every day, whether it’s cleaning, drawing, ect. Some of the things I have done so far ranged from:

  • making a blog! (finally something that uses my computer time effectively!)
  • making a nacho sauce (looked weird but tasted good!)
  • creating an OOTD video spontaneously
  • take photos all day
  • research a specific topic
  • read as much in one day
  • create outfits
  • create personal projects
  • started making up designs to revamp my room
  • clean/Organize my room/workspace

Sure I try to go out with my friends, see family or go out to dinners in between my work schedule, but it’s nice to dedicate some sort of “thing” per day. I feel more accomplished and it feels like I’m dedicating myself to something new every day.

I feel like I’m much better now at motivating myself to get up and do stuff compared to a few years back where I would clean my room at a snails pace because my mother made me.

Thinking back on a lot of my previous summers when I wasn’t working, I really wasted them! I would literally be on the computer ALL DAY.

I relied on my mom when she had her vacation time because she was always motivated to be doing something no matter what! She hated the idea of any of her vacation time being wasted by being in the house, and I love her for that! I can see that she’s really rubbed off on me!

HAPPY SUMMER!

It’s called Old Navy Solider because I just realized that everything but my belt is from Old Navy! How ironic is that? =)

  • Shirt- Old Navy ($5.00) <–Clearance!
  • Shorts- Old navy ($5.00) <–Clearance!
  • Cardigan- Old Navy ($15.00)
  • Belt- Urban Planet ($2.50)
  • Flower studs- Forever21 ($3.80) <–Set of 3 studs

Please mind my very weird expression! I’m actually not sure if this outfit is really all that great, if it’s a hit & miss I can totally accept that. I was really happy to wear some silver-gold accessories cause I only wear silver sadly. Finally achieved loose beach wave curls!

I bought this cardigan, and I’m not used to bright bold colours, but I am DETERMINED to match outfits up with it! It’s amazing how much an outfit can change with one bold colour added! This outfit went from beachy to bold in 2 seconds!

Never be afraid to try something new, something a bit outside of your comfort zone!

I think of a “DIY” as a very simple thing, nothing crazy hard to do, or even as a simple tip! There are times my closet CANNOT BREATHE from all of the things I have jam packed in it! On top of that, my mom has a habit of saying “you need to make room BEFORE buying something else“. So what did I do? I decided to find some loopholes in that statement of hers! It’s all about a bit of free time and creativity!

See all of the empty hangers on the right? Who says you can’t get that much space without getting a bigger closet? It’s all the nifty little tricks! Have a look below.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that we don’t always remember what we have and don’t have! Unconsciously, I end up buying clothes of the same colour that I already own too much of! By placing your clothes in bunches by colour, this can give you a visual aid of what you should think about buying so you don’t end up with ANOTHER set of 5 black tops when you already have 20!

(Left to right) Black, purple, green, blue, grey, brown, white (in my defense, my stripes and oranges are in the wash!)

Note: Try NOT to hang tanks in your closet because since they are really thin and light, it’s easy to miss them when you are looking for it! It blends in really easily and the last thing you need is that extra 10 minutes gone trying to find it! Try having them all folded in a drawer or if you need to hang it, place ALL of your tank tops in the very front of your closet so it’s easier to find!

This is my special trick for using less hangers and ending up with LOTS of space left over! Basically create an outfit and layer it onto ONE hanger! By doing this, not ONLY are you maximizing your closet space, but you are also CREATING AN OUTFIT! How awesome is THAT? You’ve just saved yourself even more time by already having something to wear without looking! It’s a great way to also experiment to see what clothes can go together if you are too lazy like me to try it on!

How cute is this? I’m the type of person to throw my scarf god knows where after the day and later on forget where I put it, resulting in a tornado hitting my room trying to find it! This makes it easier for me personally, no wasted space to hang all of them! (one hanger can hang more than 4 scarfs easily!) Below is a photo just showing how to tie them on =)

Simple right? =)

There are always times when projects CAN go wrong. We fear it’ll happen, but you just gotta have an open mind and improvise~

I found that I almost never wear this shirt and it just feels quite plain to me. Then, I had gotten inspired when I saw Pretty Little Liar’s Spencer wearing this top:

I fell in love with this top the SECOND I saw her wearing it!

All you need is a marker and mark off where you want the cut to be and cut!

To duplicate the cut, you can take the fabric and put it on the other side and use it as a guideline to cut.

Another way to get the other side cut is to simply fold the shirt in half so that the already cut side is on top and you can see where to cut to make it exactly the same.

As much as I really wanted to do this, it was a bit longer/bigger than I thought. Well, it can’t always work.

Note: If you ever do this, start smaller and try it on to make sure you like it!

When in doubt, go SLEEVELESS! Now my top can be worn under lots of layers and it won’t bother me! =)
